How it Started

At Key Data, we are not your typical tech company. We're a team of passionate individuals deeply rooted in the vacation rental industry. Our founder, Jason Sprenkle, experienced a common challenge firsthand, relying on others to perform competitive research for his own vacation properties. Realizing the importance of utilizing the actual performance of professionally managed properties for day to day decisions, he set out to build a solution in 2018.

Recognizing that direct access to reservation data was essential for making informed decisions, Jason took the "hard way" approach.  He and the team delved into direct source integrations, extracting the necessary data that would provide valuable insights. Through this rigorous process, Jason was able to achieve remarkable outcomes for his own company and help empower other property managers with this data.  As COVID created a make or break time in the industry where uncertainty around demand and a boom in supply was making business more difficult than ever, Key Data was providing a tool to make decisions with confidence.

As we dove deeper into understanding this specific market segment, we discovered that our insights were not only beneficial to property managers but also to Destination Marketing Organizations, hotels, and other stakeholders surrounding the vacation rental industry.
